Monthly Volunteer Project: First Children's Day Carnival with El Centro de La Raza!

Jun 10 10:00 AM-2:00 PM
1607 S. 341 St
1607 S 341 St, Federal Way, 98003

Join us on June 10 for a monthly volunteer opportunity to support El Centro De La Raza’s first annual Dia De Los Ninos Summer Carnival! The community needs committed volunteers to make this day a success.

Dia De Los Ninos (Day of the Child) is an annual celebration in Latin American culture on April 30, but living in the Pacific Northwest, means waiting for perfect weather in June to celebrate. The annual celebration was inaugurated through realizing that literacy went hand-in-hand with supporting the well-being of children. The day promotes bilingual and miltilingual literacy, involving parents along the continued education journey and honoring culture.

Support this first-time event in Federal Way for participants of El Centro De La Raza’s youth programs.

  • Volunteers will be helping host arts and crafts tables, photo booths and other supporting roles. (flower crafting, face painting, ticketing, markets etc.)
  • Volunteers who speak multiple languages are encouraged but not required. Everyone is welcome to serve!
  • Dress comfortable and prepare to bond with our students and their families. You can complete shifts or stay for the whole event.

Meet Your Volunteer Lead: Cris!

“Hi Everyone,

I enjoy art and meeting the community face-to-face, so when I heard we could help with face painting at a Dia De Los Ninos celebration I was among the first to volunteer. I look forward to seeing you all there and celebrating with our community. One fun question to break the ice might be “what’s a boring fact about yourself? Mine is that I like a good sturdy box!

Now you know to things about me – let’s chat more at the carnival.”
