 Washington Governor Jay Inslee visited a United Way of King County Free Tax Preparation Campaign site to remind folks to take advantage of the new Washington Families Tax Credit. As of April 17, United Way has filed 8,223 returns. The total amount refunded has been $11,116,201! 

 King County's historic eviction prevention and rent assistance program to transition to state program, Keep King County Housed. For more information on this new rental assistance program, check out this blog post.

A new rental assistance program is here! United Way, which has administered the county’s rental assistance program for nearly a year, will continue to disperse payments when the program transitions to state government in June, local officials said this week.

We are excited to welcome Lindsay Harper to our team as our new chief philanthropy officer. With a focus on education and economic mobility for marginalized communities, Lindsay has dedicated her professional career to social justice and understands the importance of supporting the longer-term work to change oppressive systems and structures.

We’re headed back to Renton Memorial Stadium again this year to celebrate great local food and have a great time with friends, family and our community. Proceeds will go to support youth through the Racial Equity Coalition’s after-school programming.

 Volunteer and Learn: Create Artist Kits for CHOOSE 180 | May 20

CHOOSE 180 is one of United Way’s community partners that focuses on dismantling racially unjust systems. Join us to get an introduction to United Way’s investment in community-based organizations like this one and then create artist kits for their art therapy program.

 Volunteer: First Children’s Day Carnival with El Centro de la Raza | June 10 

Support this first-time event in Federal Way for participants of El Centro de la Raza’s youth programs. Volunteers will be helping host arts and crafts tables, photo booths, ticketing, face painting, etc. 

 Family First Community Center Opening | May-June

The Family First Community Center Foundation was founded by Doug Baldwin Jr. and has a vision to provide youth and families in the area with a community center that offers health, wellness, recreational and educational opportunities. They are set to open their center in Renton in June! You’re invited to join a community open house and help celebrate their opening.
